About

Mission

Black History Month Belgium aims to bring together Black and Afrodescendant communities in Belgium, and create spaces of solidarity to contribute to the education, entertainment and care of people who are members of these communities, at the intersection of their multiple identities, and impacted by social and structural discrimination related to these identities. These people include but are not limited to people with marginalized gender identities, undocumented migrants, people with one or more disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, people of dierent ages, people with dierent ethnic identities and geographical origins, and people from dierent socio-economic classes. Black History Month Belgium also aims to create awareness and increase the participation and visibility of the aforementioned communities, allowing them to reflect and talk about certain intra-communal topics, while also celebrating their achievements, and those of the generations before them.
