Berima Amo is a Ghanaian singer, trumpeter, composer and conductor who is reviving the rich tradition of highlife, also known as West African blues. Based in Amsterdam, he performs as an ambassador for West African music and has released five albums, two EPs and six singles. In his contemporary compositions and lively concerts, he combines highlife with influences from Afrobeat, jazz, soul and classical music.

Alongside his own musical career, Berima Amo also supports young artists through his Better Music Africa foundation and collaborates with international musicians, including those from the orchestra of the Koninklijk Concertgebouw. With his Nkabom AfroBand, which brings together musicians from Ghana and the Netherlands, he brings a powerful fusion of African rhythms and European influences to stages around the world.

Berima Amo is een Ghanese zanger, trompettist, componist en bandleider die de rijke traditie van highlife, ook wel de West-Afrikaanse blues genoemd, nieuw leven inblaast. Vanuit zijn woonplaats Amsterdam treedt hij op als ambassadeur van West-Afrikaanse muziek en bracht hij inmiddels vijf albums, twee EP’s en zes singles uit. In zijn eigentijdse composities en swingende live optredens laat hij highlife samengaan met invloeden uit afrobeats, jazz, soul en klassieke muziek.
